Potato and cheese.

Hello everyone!!

To discover new flavors we do not necessarily have to go to another country!  In every land there is a dish which is very popular in one part and in other not so much, but once you tried this course you want to have it all the time. Why? Because it’s so different from the food you already know.  One of my “foreign”dish is potato with curd- “gzik”. It’s very popular dish in west part of Poland , simple and delicious food which can be served as a starter or as a main course. . My version of the meal is sweet because of the sweet potato and paneer, in original recipe it is said to use regular potato, so you can use regular one if you don’t like sweet potatoes.

To make your own “gzik” you will need:

One cooked and peeled sweet potato

2 Tbsp paneer – regular curd

1/3 tsp salt

1/3 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp turmeric

1/4 tsp grind cumin seeds

1/3 tsp grind garlic powder

1 Tbsp yogurt – regular one or Greek one

First boil potato then peel it and make a cut on the top. Spoon out  some pulp and mix it with paneer, yogurt and spices. If you like you can blend curd to have smooth consistency, but it’s not necessary. Also if you like you can increase the amount of spices, according to your taste. When paneer and pulp is mixed nicely put it back inside the potato, place potato on a baking tray and bake in 220 degrees for 15 min.

I also prepared some green beans with “crumbs”, instead of crumbs I used brans which I mixed with melted butter.

You will need:

50 grams- 100 grams cooked green beans

2 Tbsp unsalted butter

1 1/2 Tbsp brans – if you like you can add more

Melt the butter on a pan, add brans, mix everything, add beans and toss them. Add pinch of salt, oregano and black pepper.

Place beans on a plate, take the potato out from the oven, put it on the beans.

Simple and cozy food, what’s more to ask for?

Enjoy !:)
